I have recently made a big decision that effects my practice and my life. In October 2003, I opened my clinic, Ralston Chiropractic, fresh out of school. Over the next several years, I was able to help many people in the community with a variety of health complaints. Muskego turned out to be a great location; close enough to the big city, but far enough away to appeal to my small town upbringing. Everyone in the community was welcoming and I’ve had the opportunity to meet some wonderful people! So far so good right? Well, what I didn’t anticipate was how many people were in need of chiropractic care, nor did I envision the direction the field of healthcare would take.
So, as of the last couple of years, Vicki, my Front Desk Receptionist and I have been looking for the opportunity for expansion, with little luck. We were faced with a dilemma: keep plugging away in our current location, offering the same treatment options, weathering the perfect storm soon to be known as the Janesville Road expansion project, or find a larger space with room for growth. The challenge was to find a location which was very close, had better parking, was not next to another chiropractor, and would be significantly larger. Yeah, we couldn’t find that location either! Eventually we gave up on the search and decided to continue at the current location for the next few years, keeping our eyes and ears open to opportunities, should they present themselves.
Cutting edge rehabilitation and Laser therapy
To make a long story longer, Dr. Bob Carpenter from Healthwise Chiropractic approached me about an opportunity to be involved with some cutting edge rehabilitation and Laser therapy. I was instantly excited about learning more about these services, so I went to Healthwise to find out what sort of new therapy was being offered, albeit unsure how this would apply to my patients.
Once I walked through the doors at Healthwise, I realized that this was the practice already in my head, waiting to be built! I had wanted to have several services in my office such as sports training and rehab but my small footprint made it impossible. Another concern of mine has been my inability to get into all the networks that you need me to be in if you or your company change your policy. Also, I have wanted to work with a group of docs so that when I take time off you are not left without care.
As of October 1, 2010, I teamed up with HealthWise Chiropractic just a couple of miles east on Forest Home in Hales Corners.
This decision did not come easily but after weighing all the positives and negatives, it became obvious that this was the best decision for the future care of my patients. The ability to offer cutting edge pain relief, coupled with the latest in athletic training and rehab was really appealing. There are also three massage therapists and a full-time physical therapist. I am joining a great team of professionals and this alone really gets me excited about the future. Additionally, if it has been difficult or impossible to be in your specific insurance plan before, there will be a very good chance that I will be in your network now that I am with HealthWise.
Our new location offers the latest and greatest healthcare technology in Milwaukee
Not only will be I be using the same adjusting techniques that I used in my old office, I also have new possibilities like the Pro-Adjuster, a computer assisted adjusting instrument that is super precise and very gentle. This will be good news if you are uncomfortable with the “cracking” sound from being twisted or pushed on.
Also, I will have a Class IV Laser that I want you all to experience. I will be telling you about my own personal success story when you come in, for there isn’t room in this letter for all the details. I will have available the latest in flexion/distraction technology for bulging/herniated discs and spinal stenosis, which I personally find makes my lumbar discs feel great after I have beat them up playing softball and lifting weights. So don’t be concerned with my changing what has worked for you, I am not eliminating, just adding the latest and greatest healthcare technology in Milwaukee.
I now will be able to conduct various seminars/programs right in the office as opposed to different locations like I did in the past. This flexibility will allow me to share with you great new information at a greater frequency than in the past when I had to wait for permission from different gyms.
