Many have been inquiring as to my next trip to Burkina Faso, West Africa so let me fill you in on my itinerary. January 15th I will leave to travel to Africa and will be back at the clinic in Hales Corners on Monday, February 8th.
My home base, as in the past couple of trips, will be in the home of our national executive director Etienne Kiemde and his wife Clementine. Some of you met his son Theophile when he was here for the summer in 2014. What is really exciting on this trip is that there has been such a ground swell of enthusiasm for the great results from the care at our Ouagadougou clinic that doctors five hours away have asked if we would come and teach them the techniques/procedures we use at HealthWise. That’s right the same procedures that you have just minutes from your door are not available in all of West Africa.
Let me interject a thought here. How much do we appreciate the type of care we find at HealthWise? In West Africa, care is like a miracle and people come from hours and hours away. It is not because they do not have drugs, surgery or injections, they have all that but it is because they find those things do not return function to their spines or their pain returns with a short time leaving them disabled or in chronic pain. They have a strong motivation to get well and stay well. In 2016 hug your Doctor/Chiropractor and say thanks.
There is a clinic of local Christian doctors sponsored by the Assembly of God denomination. They are the ones that are requesting us to come and teach them the HealthWise procedures. Due to the time constraints I am not able to teach them the manual techniques just the flexion distraction and the instrument adjustment. But that is so powerful that the ministry of health in the country has asked me to start an official school. So, from approximately the 18th through the 29th I will be teaching and eventually training them hands on from 8-6 with an hour off for lunch. No air conditioning and the average temperature is in the high 80s. Thank goodness for ceiling fans. So when you tell me, have a nice vacation…You will see me smile.
Everyone can keep up to date with the Adventure by checking out the HealthWise Facebook page.
You help to make this possible for a portion of every dollar you spend at HealthWise goes to this work. Thank you!
