At this time of year our immune systems are really put to work. Stress can take on several forms: emotional, physical and chemical. Excess forms of all of these stressors can really put a damper on how well your immune system will work for you. Take some time to focus on your own health. What sorts of things can you do to relieve stress from your body? Some things are out of our control, however, the way that we react to stress can make all the difference.
To tackle emotional stress, devote some time every day to prayer or meditation. In terms of physical stress, how often are you exercising? Whether it be a walk around the block or some simple stretching, keeping your body moving is healthy for the joints (and the mind!). Chemical stressors are high at this time of year; think sugar, alcohol and lots of excess carbohydrates! Be mindful as you celebrate that consuming too much of all of these things is very hard on your body. Indulge if you must, but try to limit your serving sizes.
