Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis (PLAN-tur fas-e-I-tis) is one of the top causes of heel pain. It occurs when the plantar fascia, a band of tissue that runs across the bottom of your foot, gets inflamed. Long-distance runners, dancers, over-weight people and people on their feet a lot are typically more prone to get Plantar Fasciitis.

The most common symptom of Plantar Fasciitis is heel pain in the morning when you first get out of bed. This pain is often described as a stabbing pain and usually goes away after a few minutes. It is also common for the plantar fascia to be sore, as it is inflamed. Many patients also report heel pain after having been active and on their feet for a while.

At Healthwise, we use a new, innovative Class IV Laser in combination with traditional methods to attain fast results. The typical prognosis according to the National Institute of Health is that most patients will be symptom-free in about 9 months. Using the Class IV Laser, we are able to achieve results in as little as 2 weeks. In addition to the laser, we use a variety of traditional methods including nighttime splints, orthotics, and supplements.
