Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is traditionally used to treat musculoskeletal and nervous system disorders. Back pain, neck pain and headaches are all common symptoms that can be addressed through chiropractic care. To address these symptoms, our Doctors of Chiropractic use a drug-free, hands-on approach known as spinal manipulations. The category of spinal manipulation includes but is not limited to manual/hands-on adjusting, or classical Chiropractic, instrument adjusting, such as the Pro Adjuster, Arthrostim or Activator, flexion distraction decompression and soft-tissue manipulation. In addition to these techniques, our doctors are able to provide nutritional, dietary, and lifestyle counseling.

Also known as a "chiropractic adjustment", spinal manipulations are at the core of what chiropractic has to offer. These adjustments help restore mobility by applying a highly calculated, directed force to joints that have become restricted as a result of a tissue injury. These injuries could be a one-time event, like shoveling the driveway improperly, or a repetitive strain on your body, like sitting with poor posture for many years. This injured tissue undergoes both physical and chemical changes resulting in inflammation and pain, and ultimately restricts joint movement. By adjusting these joints, chiropractors are able to restore mobility and reduce pain caused by these injuries.

HealthWise doctors are not only experts in hands on care, but also in instrument adjusting. Instrument adjusting is very gentle and may even feel as if very little was done. But when you start to move, you'll notice you have less pain, more range of motion and most likely even feel stronger. How did this happen without the popping and cracking? Our tools are able to analyze your spine and find the vertebrae that are out of alignment and gently tap them back into place. No popping, no cracking, just aligning. Dr. Bob, the founder of HealthWise Chiropractic has some spinal problems that have caused him to develop special techniques that help you feel better and function higher without the customary popping and twisting.

Spinal Decompression

SPINAL DECOMPRESSION THERAPY
At HealthWise Chiropractic, we provide Spinal Decompression Therapy, a wonderful alternative for those facing spinal surgery due to chronic back pain, neck pain, or sciatica. This technique offers potential pain relief for patients suffering from a host of spinal and joint issues.

THE PROBLEM: BACK PAIN/ NECK PAIN/ JOINT PAIN
Patients suffering from back pain, neck pain, or joint pain often experience a decreased quality of life and a loss of health and wellness. Issues like sciatica, bulging or herniated discs, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, and arthritis can all cause debilitating pain. Many patients have been offered only a handful of invasive options, like drugs, injections, or spinal surgery. At HealthWise Chiropractic, we offer you an alternative treatment that is non-invasive and offers potential long-term pain relief.

THE SOLUTION: SPINAL DECOMPRESSION THERAPY
Spinal Decompression Therapy utilizes a special machine here in the HealthWise Chiropractic clinic that alternately stretches and relaxes your spine. This provides relief to the discs in your spine by removing the pressure that is continually put on them and creating a vacuum within the discs that pulls fluid from surrounding tissues. This technique increases blood flow and allows nutrients to reach your spinal discs, helping them to repair naturally. This ultimately allows them to reshape and reposition so that they no longer put pressure on spinal nerves.

Class IV Laser

WHAT IS CLASS IV LASER THERAPY?
Using Class IV Laser Therapy, we at Healthwise Chiropractic are able to provide real results pain free and fast. The average deep tissue laser therapy session lasts only 5 to 10 minutes and most patients see results in only 3 to 5 visits. How it works is simple. The doctor determines the proper "dosage" of light to be used and the proper area to treat. The light is stimulates cellular activity and in turn initiates your own body's healing power that works to reduce inflammation after the treatment.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
Class IV Laser Therapy reduces inflammation and initiates the natural healing process within your body. The treatment works by flooding your tissues with photons, thus increasing circulation by energizing the cells in the injured area. This is what ultimately helps reduce pain and inflammation and increase circulation to the treated area. It is important to note that because class IV laser therapy initiates the body's own natural healing processes, you may not realize all the benefits until 24 hours after your treatment.

Mechanical Motion Therapy

MMT is a branded, doctor certified technology that is a combination of instrument technology coupled with simultaneous patient-assisted specific postures. This dual-motion therapy is the guiding principle of MMT. Specifically, dual-motion therapy is the treatment of a human being, with the patient actively participating in the treatment during the visit. It uses muscles, ligaments, joints, the nervous system and every other involved tissue component which may have an affect on individual results. During MMT the patient, moves in a very specific motion pattern while the MMT Specialist directs the instrument in a prescribed manner. This allows the doctor to utilize exactly the right amount of tension and force upon the tissues as the treatment is applied.

Mechanical Motion Therapy can have a powerful, pain relieving effect on the tissues containing the specialized receptors, even in instances where it has been present for years. MMT affects the sensation of pain by altering the patient’s pain threshold. In other words, it decreases the negative effect of these pain receptors while gaining increased motion and flexibility as a result.

Take for example a shoulder treatment. The patient may be moving the shoulder through a specific range of motion, partially resisting in a certain range, while the doctor is using an exact protocol. We refer to this as motion-motion therapy. The results are far and away better and more immediate than anything else that has been experienced to date. This treatment gets results even after 20, 30, or 40 years of the patient suffering.

People want a quick and comfortable solution that immediately improves the ability to function more effectively in life and reduces years of pain and inflammation. MMT addresses this desire for better health. Therefore, you may be happier, healthier and functioning at the level you want.

Pro Adjuster

At HealthWise Chiropractic, we provide you with many options for subluxation correction, one of which is the Pro Adjuster. The Pro Adjuster uses modern technology to gently but efficiently adjust your vertebrae (bones in your spine), as well as other joints in your body.

THE PROBLEM: SUBLUXATIONS
Subluxations occur when one or more of your vertebrae shift out of optimal position, causing them to be too rigid (or not rigid enough), putting pressure on your spinal nerves, straining your muscles, and potentially damaging the soft tissue in surrounding areas. This can cause pain, decreased range of motion in multiple areas of the body, and an overall decrease in health and wellness. Trauma to our bodies in the form of disease, physical accidents, and even normal life experiences, like pregnancy, moving into a new home, or starting a new job can all cause subluxations. When your body is healthy and functioning at 100%, you feel well, are pain-free, and have a better quality of life. Removing subluxations will help you to experience a higher level of health and wellness.

THE SOLUTION: THE PRO ADJUSTER
During a manual chiropractic adjustment, a Doctor of Chiropractic uses his/her sense of touch to detect and correct subluxations. The Pro Adjuster uses advanced technology to do the same things, providing a gentle approach that is appropriate for everyone from infants to seniors. Many people who have been fearful of experiencing a traditional manual adjustment, mostly because they don’t know what to expect, have found the Pro Adjuster to be a wonderful solution for eliminating subluxations in a way that makes them feel secure and comfortable.

THE EXPERIENCE: WHAT DOES THE PRO ADJUSTER FEEL LIKE
While you sit in a special chair, one of our certified Doctors of Chiropractic moves a small, U-shaped instrument down your spine, touching each of the vertebra and allowing the Pro Adjuster to detect areas of misalignment. After that, the Doctor holds the instrument on the problem vertebra and the machine uses a series of gentle taps to shift the vertebra back into optimal position. There are no sudden movements associated with this type of an adjustment. After this, the Doctor may use the Pro Adjuster on other joints, like your shoulder or jaw, using the same tapping method as before.

MANUAL CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS
Manual chiropractic adjustments have a long track record of successfully relieving back pain, neck pain, hip pain, and much more. At Healthwise Chiropractic we utilize a number of different manual techniques to ensure you get the best results as quickly as possible.

THE PROBLEM: SUBLUXATIONS
When one or more of your vertebrae shift out of optimal position, causing them to be too rigid (or not rigid enough), this is called a subluxation. This can put pressure on your spinal nerves, strain your muscles, and potentially damage the soft tissue in surrounding areas. Pain, decreased range of motion in multiple areas of the body, and an overall decrease in health and wellness often ensues.

THE SOLUTION: CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS
Combining many years of experience and expertise, our Doctors of Chiropractic use a variety of “manual” adjustment methods to correct subluxations in your spine and improve joint movement in other areas of the body. By returning your vertebrae to optimal position and increasing range of motion, we can help you achieve better health and wellness. Below is a brief description of four of the techniques we employ.

THE EXPERIENCE: OUR TECHNIQUES
Diversified- Using their years of experience and expertise, our Doctors of Chiropractic identify any subluxations by feeling your spine. Once these areas of dysfunction are found, our Doctors use a particular hand arrangement that allows them to deliver a manual thrust in a specific direction and intensity. Our Doctors are highly trained professionals who have collectively treated thousands of patients using this technique.

Cox Technique (Flexion-Distraction)- While laying face down on one of our special tables, one of our Doctors places one hand on your spine while simultaneously lowering the half of the table under your legs. The Doctor then moves this half of the table in a fluid up and down pattern, alternately stretching and relaxing your spine. This process gently separates your vertebrae and allows greater range of motion in most patients.

Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.)- B.E.S.T. is a technique that is used by our Doctors to help balance the energy in your body and to allow your body to heal itself. By touching particular pressure points in a specific order, this technique restores balance in the nervous system.

Activator Method®- One of our Doctors will begin your adjustment by identifying subluxations and any areas of concern, just as they do when performing a traditional chiropractic adjustment. Once the problem vertebra(e) is identified, the Doctor places the Activator®, a small, spring-loaded tool designed specifically for Chiropractors, on the misaligned spinal bone. The tool delivers a low-force thrust to the vertebra in question, which helps to bring it back to optimal position. When using the Activator®, our Doctors are able to move quickly from one spot to another, decreasing your body’s tendency to tense up. The Activator® can also help to adjust other joints in the body.
